We all know how EA’s gone a bit overboard with The Sims. Ever since the company realized the series was a success, our lives have been filled with endless waves of expansion packs, stuff packs, console adaptations and even slightly less desirable spin-offs (The Sims Pet Stories anyone?). Well, now EA has a partner in crime to capitalize on The Sims with real world merchandise – Mad Catz.

The two companies have worked out an agreement. Mad Catz will make all kinds of Sims-inspired accessories and EA will let them. This means the market will likely be inundated with 3DS, DS, PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 Sims stuff before 2011 ends. Poor PSP owners! It looks like you’re left out again. Exact product details weren’t released yet, but I’m sure there’ll be a wide variety of items in that odd shade of lime green. We already know Mad Catz is known for making controllers, accessory kits, cases and faceplates, so we should probably expect to see those in new styles. What I’m really looking forward to is the eventual Sims 3 Play and Charge cable for my PS3 – that will be sweet.

It’s a non-exclusive deal too, so maybe Mad Catz won’t be the only company providing lots of Sims stuff to gamers. I bet EA will see how the initial batch of Sims accessories sells, then determine whether or not to sell out the series even more. 3DS accessories
